IPCC investigating death of man shot by police in north London

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating the death of a man who was shot by police in Islington, north London on 5th September 2014.

The victim has now been named as Dean Joseph, 40, of Northumberland Park, Haringey, north London.

Members of Mr Joseph’s family formally identified him on 12th September at Poplar mortuary. The IPCC family liaison managers assisted with the process.

As part of the investigations into Mr Joseph’s death, the IPCC investigators have spoken to over 30 witnesses who saw or heard events connected to the fatal shooting in Shepperton Road, Islington.

An inquest into Mr Joseph’s death is yet to open.
