Interview with Michelle Jeng, Miss Africa Scandinavia

Be goal-oriented, never give up and believe in yourself!

She is only 19 years old, yet Michelle Jeng is already the holder of the Miss Africa Scandinavia Crown.

The Sweden born Michelle is a student and a model. When you first meet her, you get the impression of having before you a very shy girl, but spend some time with her and you’ll soon notice that she is a very talkative and spontaneous person.

Behind this shy girl is a very ambitious, goal-oriented and determined woman. Michelle is very down to earth, loving and caring person.

Here’s an exclusive interview she granted The AfroNews.

Michelle, what’s your favourite music, book and movie?

I listen to almost all types of music, depending on what mood I’m in. Everything from Rihanna, Lil Wayne to Coldplay and Regina Spektor. I love reading books that are based on a true story or that in some way are related to personal development. My favourite book for the moment is “Desert Flower” by Waris Dirie. My favourite movie is “The Prestige”. I love the actors and I never get tired of watching it.

What’s your most memorable day?

As a model, my most memorable day was when I entered my first modelling competition. It was the first time that I stood in front of the camera with a lot of people watching. I remember how scared I was when I was waiting for my turn, but somehow it felt so good as soon as the wind went on. I felt confident and relaxed in a way. I will always remember that day, since that was the day my interest in modelling started growing.

What do you like most about yourself?

I like the fact that I have a big heart. For that I would like to thank my mom. She has shown me the importance of being beautiful inside as well. Physically, I would say my eyes.

What’s your favourite food?

My favourite food of all times is Lebanese cuisine.

What are your future ambitions?

Not only would I like to have a great modelling career, I also want to study and settle down in a place I love.

What’s your special talent?

I love writing poems. That’s a secret though!

Please tell us something about your town?

I was born in Stockholm which is a very beautiful city. A lot of water, bridges and old absolutely beautiful buildings. Cafés, shops, and other amusements are amazing.

Why did you choose to become a model?

I had been told so many times that I should try modelling and one day I did. Now I just love it and everything about it!

For how long have you been modelling?

I was 16 years old when I entered my first modelling competition.
How does it feel to be a model?

It feels great. Doing something you love is so important for your wellbeing.

What are the qualities of your ideal man?

To catch my eye at first, he has to be charming and intelligent. He must also be loving, be caring and have goals in life. And of course have a sense of humour.

Any advice to those aspiring to become models?

I think it is important to be goal-oriented, never give up and always believe in yourself! Then you’ll succeed, not only in modelling but in everything you want in life.

Any other comment?

I am so happy for this opportunity you’ve given me. And I would like to thank you for interviewing me for your magazine. Thank you!
