Akamandisa Inambao, charming and focused Zambia’s Supermodel

Akamandisa Inambao’s beauty and charm won her the spotlight immediately she decided to model. In 2009, she scooped the title of Miss Zambia Supermodel when she entered the competition for the first time. And that was the very first year she was joining professional modelling!

Akamandisa is a very focused and determined person. “I set myself goals and set out to accomplish them. I am also very ambitious,” she says.

Akamandisa is a very sweet, gentle, loving and very caring person. Here’s an exclusive interview she granted us.

Akamandisa, what’s your favourite music, book and movie?

I am into personal development and always look for ways to improve myself, both in my physical appearance as well as my intellect. My favourite book is “Think Big” by Ben Carson. When it comes to music, my favourite is reggae and dancehall music – I just love the rhythm found in reggae and dance hall music, its beat and its dance-ability! My favourite movie of all times is “Love & Basketball”.

What’s your most memorable day?

As a model, my most memorable day would be my first Catwalk experience.  Getting onto that stage, looking all glammed up and walking the runway with all those eyes focused on me was a thrilling experience and one that I will remember and cherish for the rest of my life.

What’s one thing you like most about yourself?

There are a lot of things I like about myself. I like it that I am a good person and that I am approachable. I also like it that I have a healthy and fit body and mind, and just love my legs to bits!

What’s your favourite food?

I love Indian cuisine, and my favourite is vegetable Biryani rice which I can have with any masala, any time. I also love Zambian food which is delicious, organic and most nutritious, and contributes to the fitness and beauty of my body.

What are your future ambitions?

My dream is to one day become the world’s top model. I would also love to model for a top international model agency such as Elite Model Agency.

What’s your special talent(s)?

I am currently studying for my ACCA to become a qualified Certified Chartered Accountant. Among many other things, my special talent is Modelling, lol!

Please tell us something about your country.

My country Zambia is a very beautiful country and one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Although Zambia is landlocked we have a number of immense waterfalls, which include one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Victoria Falls which is a world heritage site. We also have abundant wildlife including the Big 5 (Rhino, Hippo, Elephant, Lion and Leopard) which roam the wild freely in addition to numerous bird species. To crown it all, Zambia is a rainbow country with over 72 different tribes, with people from different origins, who are very friendly and hospitable and who all live together in harmony under our ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION motto.

Why did you choose to become a model?

Since I was a child I always dreamt of being in the limelight. As I grew older, my passion for the limelight grew stronger and I decided modelling would be the thing that would get me into the limelight. I chose to become a model because I love the runway and the cameras and all the attention that comes with it.

For how long have you been modelling?

Although I loved modelling from a young age, I only started professional modelling about three years ago. In 2009 I entered the competition for Zambia’s Supermodel, for which I scooped the title of Zambia Supermodel 2009. I have now been modelling for about three years.

How does it feel to be a model?
Being a model feels great. I love the attention and the feel good factor that comes with looking great. It also feels great because it is something I have a passion for and something that I love to do.

What are the qualities of your ideal man?

My ideal man must be intelligent, down to earth, caring, confident, sophisticated and enterprising.

Any advice to those aspiring to become models?

There is a lot of hard work involved in modelling and it requires a lot of discipline for one to succeed and survive in the industry. However, with focus and determination as well as the right support and guidance, modelling can open several doors because you get to meet people from all walks of life. To be a successful model one has to have a passion for modelling.
