Ugandan pop star Desire Luzinda risks arrest over ‘revenge porn’ nude pictures

Ugandan pop star Desire Luzinda whose nude pictures were circulated by an ex-boyfriend now risks arrest.

Desire Luzinda says her nude images were circulated by an ex-boyfriend after she decided to end their relationship

Uganda’s State Minister for Ethics and Integrity Simon Lokodo said Ms Luzinda should be investigated and possibly arrested over her nude pictures.

The 26 year old musician’s naked photos have gone viral on social media networks, and have even been published in local newspapers.

It is alleged her ex-boyfriend from Nigeria posted them saying he wanted to teach her a lesson.

Ms Luzinda has been hiding since the images were published and Mr Lokodo ordered her arrest under Uganda’s very strict anti-pornography rules.

“I have directed the police to arrest her, but first they should investigate her,” Mr Lokodo told the Monitor last week. “She should be locked up and isolated.”

The musician told Heads Up that she regretted posing nude. Her pictures were allegedly released by her Nigerian ex-boyfriend, Franklin Emuobor, Heads Up reported. “All I can say is that I was stupid to have allowed him to take those photos but I did it out of love. I was deeply in love with him at that time and I didn’t ever think he can be so immature to release the pictures,” Ms Luzinda said.

The musician’s ex-boyfriend released the pictures after she decided to end their relationship. “It hurts a lot when someone you loved and trusted does that to you. I am a strong woman and I hope to come out of this situation stronger.”

In a message posted on her official Facebook page, Ms Luzinda said: “The facts about this matter are that these were photos taken in privacy with someone I loved. In our private moments, we all have our “moments of madness”. The bottom line is that I trusted this person and never hoped that something done in private would find its way to the public domain irrespective of our differences.”

She added: “I am aware that for many people who looked up to me as a role model, to the fans who adore my music, to the young generation that looks up to artistes like me as a symbol of the importance of grooming and growing talent, these photos must have been an upset.”

Ms Luzinda apologised to her mother, daughter, family, friends, fans and all offended by those images. “Like I said, this was a breach of trust by someone I loved. I take full responsibility for having lost my mind to take such shameful pics. This person has not only abused that trust but now seeks to drag me down.

“Those who have interacted closely with me know I am a decent person, a doting mother and an industrious woman. These images in no way should define who I am.”
