Africans Unite against Child Abuse (AFRUCA) is accepting applications for the post of Volunteers Project Co-ordinator.
AFRUCA is the premier charity promoting the rights and welfare of African children in the UK.
‘Child Protection Community Volunteering project’ is a two year programme to encourage the Black community to help tackle the over-representation of children in the child protection and care systems by becoming “AFRUCA Children’s Champions”.
The Project Co-ordinator will work with others at AFRUCA to recruit, train and manage 100 Children’s Champions who will work in the community to train others.
The ideal candidate will have five years’ administrative experience and a strong commitment to the rights and welfare of children.
You must be a self-starter, able to work on your own initiative while delivering impressive results.
You must be a very good communicator, with excellent written, oral and training design and delivery skills.
You must be an excellent organizer able to juggle many things at once. You must have a very strong understanding of the myriad of challenges faced by black children and young people across London and the implications of these for child protection and safeguarding.
You must be enthusiastic, willing to learn new skills and able to take on a key role in a small but dynamic organisation.
All AFRUCA staff must undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check to confirm their suitability in working for a children’s charity.
