Can I call Home Office to check status of visa application?

Question: My issue is regarding Post-study work visa application. I posted my completed application form to the UK Border Agency by recorded mail on 15th May 2012. I’ve noticed that the application fee was deducted from my account on 28th May 2012. I’ve so far not received the biometric enrolment letter. I’ve also not been sent any acknowledgement letter.

What should I do? I am very concerned. Thank you.

Answer: Thank you for your query. There is no exact time frame by which the Home Office is required to confirm receipt of your application or send you an invitation for your bio-metrics.

If you submitted the application using a tracking delivery method, please track and trace this as confirmation of your application. The fact that money has been deducted from your account may show that the application has been received by the Home Office.

Although you are not encouraged to contact the Home Office by telephone, you may wish to do so on 0870 606 7766 to see whether they have received the application.

We wish you all the best.

Many thanks.
