A special entertainment event to raise funds for a charitable organisation running empowering projects in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will be held in London on 22nd August 2014.
The event titled “Passion for Motherland”, is organised by Lisette Mibo, an award winning Congolese model based in the UK.
The fundraising event will bring together an eclectic mixture of live music, poetry and fashion show.
The event will raise funds for Menelik Education, a community-based organisation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the UK, with the goal of spearheading development initiatives to empower those in need in the local villages.
Ms Mibo is a Good-Will Ambassador for Menelik Education. The organisation was founded in 2006 by Dr Theodore Menelik-Mfuni, a Congolese lecturer at Cambridge.
Apart from raising funds for charity, “Passion for Motherland” will also raise awareness of the political instability, conflicts, wars and violation of human rights in the DRC.
Despite being one of the richest countries on the planet in terms of natural resources, DRC continues to be one of the poorest countries in the world.
Ms Mibo says she is determined to use her talent and any given platform to raise conscious awareness of the challenges facing her country of origin.
She is convinced that her colleagues in the fashion industry can support peace and stability in her motherland by participating at this event.
“Passion for Motherland” will take place on 22nd August 2014, at the Cre8 Lifestyle Centre, The Old Baths, 80 Eastway, Hackney Wick, London, E9 5JH, from 19:00 to 23:00. Tickets: £10 in advance and £15 at the door.
