Demo against controversial sale of London’s Africa Centre

5th February 2015: A demo against the sale of the lease of The Africa Centre, 38 King Street. Covent Garden, London will be held on 11th February 2015.

Africa Centre LondonThe Africa Centre used to be a unique cultural, business and social centre for Africans in the UK.

Africa Centre Rise, the community campaign opposing the sale of the centre says it was dubiously sold despite them owning the freehold to the building.

The centre was given by the Catholic Church in perpetuity to London’s African Communities in the 1960s.

Africa Centre Rise says: “Our voices were silenced and marginalized by the Private Company Big money holders, the Local Authority and the Trustees. We were not consulted or treated fairly. We were discriminated against.”

You are all invited to the demo on 11th February 2015 outside the Royal Courts of Justice from 10am and 1pm which will coincide with the oral hearing taking place the same day to decide if the Africa Centre Rise’s Judicial Review Action can go ahead.

You are urged to bring banners, homemade placards, flags and whistles.
