A teenager has been jailed in relation to the killing of pensioner Richard Bowes during last summer’s disorder in Ealing while his mother has beenjailed for perverting the course of justice.
Lavinia Desuze, 31, and Darrell Adrian Desuze, 17, of Bath Road, Hounslow were sentenced at the Inner London Court on 17th April 2012.
Darrell was jailed for eight years for manslaughter, violent disorder and four counts of Burglary while Lavinia was jailed for 18 months for perverting the course of justice.
Darrell had pleaded guilty on 12th March 2012 to the manslaughter of 68 year-old Richard Bowes on 8th August 2011, on Springbridge Road, and to violent disorder.
He had previously pleaded guilty on 24th November 2011 to four burglaries which he committed on shops which were looted immediately after Mr. Bowes’ death.
Lavinia was found guilty of perverting the course of justice on 21st March 2012. She destroyed the clothing worn by her son, Darrell, after he fatally assaulted Mr. Bowes last year.
“Mr. Mannington-Bowes was an innocent man trying to do the decent and honest thing of protecting life and property; tragically he lost his life whilst doing so,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Rowell, Borough Commander at Ealing.
