June Daley, the founder of Miss Jamaica UK has been nominated BEFFTA Awards Ambassador for the Caribbean.
Founded by Pauline Long, BEFFTA (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts) Awards honour film directors, actors, beauty pageants, musicians, fashion designers, journalists, authors, models, radio personalities, TV personalities amongst others.
“I am very excited and honoured to be nominated as there are many people who have done a lot of hard work within the Caribbean community who were equally deserving of being nominated. I am very thankful for the nomination,” said Ms Daley.
This year Miss Jamaica in UK celebrates its 25th anniversary. The contest has developed into the foremost beauty pageant in the UK for girls of Jamaican heritage. It is a launching pad for contestants, many of whom have gone on to forge successful careers in the UK and abroad, as doctors, lawyers, and in numerous other professions.
Ms Daley who received BEFFTA Female Lifetime Achievement Award last year, thanked
Ms Long for the excellent work she is doing with her staff to celebrate achievers in the Black Community.
